Hey,
I'm David Skillett
Product manager who codes. Accountant who ships apps.
Builder of independent products that run themselves.
Senior PM at ICE · FCCA · First Class Honours · London
01 / About
The short version
I'm a Senior Product Manager at ICE (Intercontinental Exchange), where I founded ICE CRED, the carbon credit reference data service used by 500+ users across 400+ companies daily. I also built the platform for the LBMA Gold and Silver Price auction, surveillance tools, dashboards, and Tableau analytics. I've also spoken on panels at IETA conferences about the carbon markets.
My career path has been anything but linear. Started as a fund accountant at CCLA, moved into business analysis at Schroders where I saved ~15,000 work hours a year through VBA automation (yes, really), then pivoted into product management at ICE.
Somewhere along the way I taught myself to code properly and started building independent products. PostcodeCheck, CarCostCheck, FindYourStay, MatchMySkillset, HelpAfterLoss and AskYourStay. Six live web apps, all built with Next.js, all pulling from real APIs. They run autonomously now, no ongoing time commitment.
I also run a property portfolio, was the 2nd fastest cricket bowler in the UK for my age (trained with the England 1st team at Lord's and Loughborough), and have visited 45+ countries. I play three instruments badly, built a school in Zambia, and created HelpAfterLoss to help others going through bereavement.

The stuff that doesn't fit on a CV
2nd fastest cricket bowler in the UK for my age group. Trained with the England 1st team at Loughborough and Lord's.
Travel filmmaker and video editor before it was cool. Shot one of the first ever videos on the original GoPro in 2011.
Broken French speaker. Mostly useful for conversations apres-ski.
Built HelpAfterLoss.co.uk, a free bereavement support platform, after my own experience with loss.
02 / Experience
Where I've been
From fund accounting spreadsheets to building auction platforms and data products used globally. The path made no sense at the time. It does now.

03 / Projects
Things I've shipped
What I've built at ICE, plus independent products I've designed, built, and launched. All run autonomously now with zero maintenance, taking no time away from my day job.
04 / Honest Skills
The honest version
Everyone lists their strengths. Here's a more honest breakdown. Because if you're hiring me, you should know what you're getting.
What I'm genuinely good at
Problem solving under pressure
Throw me a tough situation and I'll find a way through it
Working with numbers
FCCA qualified, fund accounting, financial modelling. Numbers are my comfort zone.
Being the go-to person to fix things
If something's broken, people come to me. I like it that way.
AI strategy & implementation
Front line of AI adoption at ICE. Identified $20M+ ARR increase at zero cost using AI tools. Built tools for a friend's large healthcare business. I pride myself on being ahead of the curve here.
Self-starting
5 live web apps, ICE CRED, a property company. Nobody asked me to build any of them.
Product strategy & roadmapping
Built ICE CRED from a blank page to 400+ companies. Plus the LBMA auction platform.
Stakeholder management
CFOs, traders, auditors, regulators. All in the same week.
Shipping fast
Idea to live product in days, not months
What I'm OK at
Public speaking
Done it at IETA, Carbon Forward, NYSE. Still nervous every single time.
Front-end development
I can ship it. A designer would cry looking at my CSS.
SQL & databases
Learned it properly before AI was here to help. Functional, not elegant.
UI/UX design
I know what looks good. Recreating it takes me 3x longer than it should.
TypeScript
Love it. Still Google the generics syntax every time.
What I'm honestly bad at
Deep-level code
Great with AI assistance now though. Raw algorithms from scratch? Not my strongest.
Sales
Working on it. Building products is the easy part, selling them is another story.
Saying no to side projects
I have 10 domains. Ten.
CSS from scratch
Thank God for Tailwind
Switching off
Checking Vercel analytics at 11pm is not a hobby, apparently
Estimating timescales
'Should take a weekend' = 3 weeks minimum
AI Tools & Platforms
I pride myself on being at the front line of AI adoption
I've helped multiple teams across ICE adopt AI tools, identified a $20M+ ARR increase at zero cost through AI-driven analysis, and built custom AI tools for a friend's large healthcare business. This isn't a buzzword for me; it's how I work every day.
Tools, Platforms & Methodologies
The day-to-day stack across product, data, and development
05 / Job Fit
Am I right for your job?
Paste a job description and I'll honestly tell you where I'm a great fit, where I'm a stretch, and where I'm probably not your person. No sugar-coating.
Drop a job description
Paste the job spec and I'll give you an honest assessment of how well I match.
06 / Ask Me Anything
Chat with my AI twin
Too lazy to read? Fair. Ask my AI anything you'd ask in an interview. It knows my full career history, skills, and even my weaknesses.
